Le ZRex à "Puddifoot"
mark puddifoot a écrit :I have posted this on the zrxoc, but thought you may like to see it as well..
Well as I have my old pc back on at the moment with the original build pics
available,I thought I would do a build thread to fill in a few bits and pieces.
From this............
To this...........
1. Start stripping and flogging off the stuff I didn't want, front and rear ends
complete,all the green body work,rear sets,the exhaust,carbs and nearly
everything else to leave me the chassis and motor basically.
2.next step was to fit the complete zx14 front end which was relatively
simple,Just had a bespoke stem made to fit the zx14 yokes and bolted it all in.
3. Rear end,mono shock zx14 conversion,not so simple!
1st of all I had one side of the arm machined where the pivot bolt go's through
as it has a cup on either side and a screw in adjuster for side to side on a
zx 14 chassis. This enabled the arm to slot into the rex chassis, the bearing
spacings are the same and the pivot bolt dia is as well!
Sorry got no close up pics of the arm before installation.
Then it was off to the chassis man,my mate boris
He also cut off a few brackets and fabricated the zorst hanger in later pics.
4. Back from boris's and strip down ready for powder coating
by my mate arfur
5.Putting all of the lovely freshly painted wheels and suspension back on,my
favorite part of the build!
Well ,lets get back to the motor and body work.
6.Motor out and Top end off and stripped...
I had the head skimmed,10 thou and carried out all of the porting work my self.
Fitted new valve stem seals and lapped in the de-coked valves, also fitted zx 11
double valve springs.
zx 11 pistons fitted,with zx 11 block.
When all of this was refitted,it was minus base gasket as well.
Head assembly complete with zx11 inlet rubbers ,cams and yoshi 38mm flat
slides.
Motor complete and going back in rolling chassis.
Arata fitted as well..
7. Body work and bits and pieces.
My lovely arata rear sets with zx14 rear master cyl to match the caliper.
The one piece fibre glass tail piece made by my dad..
The donor tank, this was the one that got dented in my spill a few years ago.
And after paint stripping...
The top of the tank was cut out to take this..
Which was then trial fitted..
Next the body work went to my mate tony
It came back base coated peugeot sapphire blue ..
I then had all new decals made to my colours and mori supplied these as well.
Rolling chassis waiting for the finished body work, this took quite a few months!
And then finally the finished body work....
Nearly there
And back to where we started...............
Had a few teething problems, but its been well worth it!
Just go's to show you can build a bike with the help of some really good mates in your dads backyard .
